Preston A. Waldrop, MD
Meet Dr. Waldrop
Dr. Preston Waldrop has been in private practice in the Roanoke Valley for 25 years. He grew up in Salem, Virginia and returned with his family in 1991 to live and practice orthopaedics.
His medical training began at the University of Virginia, followed by orthopaedic training at Emory University in Atlanta. To further his knowledge in orthopaedics, Dr. Waldrop participated in a fellowship in shoulder/sports medicine at the University of Miami.
He chose to focus his practice on orthopaedics because it gives him the ability to treat all age groups. In addition, orthopaedics allows him to treat a specific problem and usually make a significant improvement in a patient’s life, which is very gratifying. Dr. Waldrop’s major interests in orthopaedics include treatment of the shoulder and knee with surgeries varying from arthroscopy to joint replacement.
Dr. Waldrop was chosen by the Roanoker Magazine as the “Best Orthopaedist” in the Roanoke Valley in 2006 and 2008. He continues to strive to treat each patient with respect and compassion.
Outside of the office, Dr. Waldrop enjoys spending time with his wife and three grown children. He is an avid golfer and also enjoys snow skiing and sailing.
