William E. Hooper, MDWilliam E. Hooper, MD

Dr. Hooper has served the Roanoke Valley and surrounding area as an Orthopedic surgeon since 1990, with special expertise in surgeries of the hand and upper extremity. He attended the University of North Carolina as an undergrad, where he was a Morehead Scholar, and received his MD degree from Duke University School of Medicine. He received his Orthopedic training at the University Of Virginia in Charlottesville, and completed a prestigious fellowship in hand and upper extremity surgery at The Hand Center of San Antonio. While working as a resident, he and his wife spent time in Roanoke, and settled here in private practice after finishing his training.

Dr. Hooper has been active in training other physicians, therapists, and physician assistants. He was recognized with the outstanding clinical faculty teaching award from the Dept. of Orthopedics at UVA, and has lectured on a wide range of topics regarding treatment of upper extremity problems.

Dr. Hooper performs a wide variety of surgeries, and treats musculoskeletal problems including carpal tunnel syndrome, arthritis, extremity injuries, tendonitis, and complex extremity conditions. He is a member of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons, the American Society of Surgery of the Hand, and the Virginia Medical Society. He is married, has three children, and enjoys gardening, fishing, playing the guitar, hiking, and travel.
