Laura Hood, PA-C
Laura Hood PA-C recently joined Virginia Orthopaedics, working primarily with Dr. Hooper. She joins the practice after working in emergency medicine in Lynchburg, VA. She sees patients for a variety of orthopaedic conditions with special interest in the upper extremity and fracture care.
She is an integral part of the skilled and caring staff at Virginia Orthopaedic. She is happy to evaluate and treat any orthopaedic issue and also assists in the care and follow-up of Dr. Hooper’s patients in both the clinical and surgical settings. She provides personable care for every patient, including guidance of patients through surgery and rehabilitation by explaining the various details involved. Laura can provide information and answer many of the questions that arise during your recovery.
Ms. Hood graduated from the Jefferson College of Health Sciences, where she was the recipient of the Theresa A. Thomas Memorial Scholarship, served as the Physician Assistant External Affairs Officer and assisted on the Physician Assistant interviewing board.
Laura was raised in the small Southwest Virginia town, Big Stone Gap, where her parents reside. She completed her undergraduate work at Virginia Teach with a B.S. in Human Nutrition, Foods and Exercise. She worked with the Virginia Tech football team as a student athletic trainer for four years. From there, she completed a M.A. in Physical Education at East Tennessee State University.
Laura worked three years in Radford, Va as the Fitness and Activities Coordinator for Radford City. There, she volunteered with Relay for Life serving as both Committee Chair and Activities Committee Chair.
Laura currently lives in the Roanoke Valley. She enjoys a variety of activities including hiking, biking, traveling, entertaining friends and listening to live music. Laura attends Christ Our Redeemer and is eager to get involved in the community.
