R. Michael Wilson, PACR. Michael Wilson, PA-C

Mr. Wilson has been with Virginia Orthopaedics for over 5 years, working primarily with Dr. Waldrop. He has been practicing in orthopaedics for greater than 8 years. He sees patients for a variety of orthopaedic conditions with special interest in sports medicine, joint replacement, and fracture care.

He is an integral part of the skilled and caring staff at Virginia Orthopedic. He assists in the care and follow-up of Dr. Waldrop’s patients in both the clinical and surgical settings. He provides personable care for every patient, including guidance of patients through surgery and rehabilitation by explaining the various details involved. Mike can provide information and answer many of the questions that may arise during your recovery, whether it is from surgery or injury.

Mr. Wilson graduated Summa Cum Laude from the Jefferson College of Health Sciences, and received the clinical excellence award in 2000 for his outstanding academic talents. He continues to have a strong interest in academics and is currently an Associate Professor for the Physician Assistant Program at Jefferson College.

Mike originally hails from the small coal mining community of Grundy, VA., where his parents still reside. He completed his undergraduate work at Radford University with a B.S. in Chemistry. From there, he spent 3 years working in the mining industry in Southern W.VA. He returned to further his education in 1992, with a goal to enter healthcare. Mike graduated from VWCC in 1994, again with Summa Cum Laude honors, in Radiography. He subsequently specialized in Radiation Oncology, where he enjoyed several special years treating cancer patients.

He and his wife, Andrea, have two children – Sydney & Walker. They enjoy numerous outdoor activities available to those of us in the Roanoke Valley, including, water sports, snow skiing, hiking and fishing. The Wilson’s are active members of Fincastle Baptist Church, where Mike is also a volunteer at the Botetourt Christian Free Clinic. Mike also enjoys organized sports, particularly Virginia Tech athletics. He and his brother continue to chase a childhood dream of trying to attend a Virginia Tech football game together every year.
